Bahia Mineração Limitada (BML) is a Brazilian company, one of the leading players in iron ore and base metal mining in the Bahia state. Around 200 employees work in BML’s three offices in Sao Paulo, Salvador and Caetite with further employees working remotely in iron mining and exploration sites around Bahia as well as in associated businesses. Texunatech delivered and supported bespoke software and IT infrastructure solutions for BMLfor a duration of four years, in which time the size and scope of this organisation grew exponentially.

BML Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Expense Claims

Texunatech's web-based BML SOP solution is the easy and convenient way for BML employees to organise and enhance company-wide procurement processes.

In SOP expense claims and receipts are submitted by BML employees and then reviewed and accepted or rejected by authorized persons. Affirmed claims are refunded and stored for further analysis. The system merges into BML’s IT and managerial structure with employees automatically added to the system and expenses categorized by office, department, project, cost-centre and other factors required for costs analysis.

Since there are both English and Portuguese speaking employees in BML staff, the SOP system includes a special feature for quick translation of new UI elements.

GIS

BML GIS system is the shared visual environment built around BML’s core process of geological exploration. The system enables BML exploration, mining and analysis teams submit and share important geospatial information online. GIS data are made instantly available to managerial staff and stakeholders.

All exploration drilling sites are initially marked on a lithological map of a region. After samples are collected and analysed in BML laboratory, chemical assays are attached to the system and linked to drilling site hotspots on the map.
